Serious questions have emerged on what the motive of Water Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui’s is in a case where a man has been reportedly accused of defiling his daughter.
Drama started on Sunday afternoon when details emerged that a team of Flying Squad had been dispatched to hunt down Chelugui’s PA Reuben Kiborek with claims that he had eloped with the CS’s 16-year-old girl.
Kiborek was accused of picking up the girl at Emining on Sunday afternoon, drove her to a Nakuru top hotel and booked her in.
On Monday morning, he got wind that Flying Squad was tracking him.
He checkout and vanished.
Later, the team of officers nailed him and was taken to Bondeni Police station where he was grilled.
He was to later be taken to court to be charged.
As journalists were tipped of the story, a cat and mouse game started.
The suspect was taken to Nakuru Police Station OCPD’s office where he spent several hours.
Apparently, the family did not want journalists to cover the case and a magistrate, a prosecutor and a court clerk were instead brought to the OCPD’s office.
It is not clear if the suspect took a plea.
Chelugui’s wife, who was present during the arrest, was heard telling officers to make sure journalists do not take hold of the story.
The manner in which the case is being handled has raised questions on why the Cabinet Secretary’s family want to keep the matter a secret if a crime was committed.
