Maribe together with her fiancee Joseph Kuria Irungu alias Jowie appeared before Justice Jessie Lessit at the Kiambu Law Courts to answer to murder charges.

They have been linked to the murder of Monicah Nyawira Kimani - a 29-year-old woman - who was killed on September 19 at her apartment in Kilimani.

DPP Noordin Haji on Tuesday directed that the duo be charged with murder.

Judge Lessit remanded Maribe at the Lang'ata Women's Prison and ordered that she be taken to Mathari Hospital for a mental assessment test pending her plea taking on October 15.

Irungu was remanded at the Industrial Area prison. The judge ordered he be taken to a hospital for medication as his left hand is nursing a gunshot wound and has now gone numb.

Following her detention, Itumbi took to Twitter where he said that Monicah's family deserve justice. He added that he will continue supporting Maribe whom he has in the past described as a good friend.

"Jacqueline Maribe, you remain in my prayers. May Justice, like many waters be done. May Monica & her family find the answers they deserve & those responsible be punished as per by law established. But may you find Justice, that you equally deserve. You got my hand of friendship," tweeted Itumbi.

Blogger Xtian Dela in a tweet said he is saddened by the turn of events for both Maribe and Irungu because they are his personal friends.
