The handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has benefited Mombasa County, Governor Ali Hassan Joho has said.
Speaking during a visit to the Kibarani area on Monday, the second term governor said that there is a lot to smile about since Raila agreed to support President Kenyatta following his re-election.
He said that the handshake has been magical because of the endless development the region had realised since the duo pledged to work together for the sake of the common 'mwananchi'.
Joho, also deputy leader of the ODM party, said that the head of state had visited the region several times since the two buried their hatched after a long electioneering period that saw his results nullified by the Supreme Court.
He also said that they have plans to better the lives of the residents of the region including the Kibarani beautification project.
The governor further said that the President had been calling him on several occasions to know about the Kibarani dumpsite as efforts to clean Mombasa continue.
"The President has put me on video call several times, with several ministers, asking about Kibarani. He is following it up,” he said in part, as quoted by Daily Nation.
