Candidates who sat for this years' Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will know their fate before the end of this week.
664,585 students across the country concluded the examinations last month and the Ministry of Education is expected to release the results before Christmas as earlier hinted.
The candidates will be competing for about 100,000 slots for direct entry into the university meaning that more than half of the students will have to either pursue diploma or certificate courses.
This situation has left the candidates, teachers and parents with a lot of anxiety after the exams were done under very strict supervision.
In the South Rift region, these schools are likely to perform very well and may appear among the top performers;
Litein Boys
This is the best performing boys school in Kericho County. It has been topping all the boys' schools in the county since 2015 and has never missed producing some of the top students nationally.
Moi Tea Girls
It is the best girl school in Kericho County and the entire South Rift. It is the only school giving Litein Boys a serious competition and the two are commonly known as academic rivals.
Tenwek Boys
This is the top performing school in Bomet county according to the previous KCSE results. However, this school did not perform well during last year's national exams and it might make a major come back.
