A man has been arrested for allegedly killing an 11-year-old boy in Matungulu, Machakos County.

Detectives nabbed the suspect in the neighboring Taita Taveta County on Tuesday.

Machakos county commissioner Abdullahi Galgalo said Alphonse Mutuku was arrested in Maungu by DCI officers from Matungulu who had been deployed to pursue him.

Galgalo said the suspect was being transported to Tala police station where he will be held until Wednesday when he will be arraigned at Kangundo Law courts.

The suspect is accused of killing Nimrod Mutua, a pupil at St. Francis of Assisi primary school in Nguluni on September 29, 2018.

The suspect is also said to have sodomized the boy before killing him.

The deceased's body was discovered stuffed in a sack and dumped at Katangini in Matungulu Sub county.

The boy had gone missing for two consecutive days before his body was found.

His parents had reported him missing.

It is said he was seen last when a school bus dropped him.

Cases of little children being murdered have been cropping up in the sub county.

Two weeks ago, body of a 13-year-old boy who went missing after he was sent to a shop was found floating in River Athi.

The boy had gone to buy shoes in Donyo Sabuk but never returned home.
