President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday at the Bomas of Kenya warned Members of Parliament that use their parliamentary powers to solicit for information that they end up using to push self-interests.
"I direct that members of parliament including Senators should not use committee powers to demand information from public offices and then utilize that same information in their own pursuit," stated Uhuru.
His sentiments come at a time the country is on the verge of fighting corruption which the president said his government is determined to win and warned that no one can hide proceeds of corruption abroad.
The Presidents directive is a big blow for members of parliament who have been using their positions in the house to investigate scandals that never get to court for convictions.
The President who seemed agitated by the high levels of corruption said that no public officer should operate a private business.
Likewise, the head of State hinted that lifestyle audit of government officers (All Arms of Government, Executive, Judiciary and Parliament) should be ready for the audit since he will not take chances working while people enrich themselves with public money.
Earlier on the President fully agreed never to appoint and employ any person implicated in a corruption case.
