The ongoing war of words between Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga is not good for this nation, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has said.
Speaking at a funeral service in Wotea Village, Makueni County on Saturday, Sonko said that he will reach out to the two leaders to unite them before 2022.
He said that Raila and Ruto have not been showing a good example to Kenyans through their speeches.
The governor noted that he is working with church elders to ensure that the two leaders bury their political differences soon.
“I am working together with church elders at Nairobi and I will ensure Raila Odinga and William Ruto also have a handshake,” said Sonko, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
He also urged leaders not to engage in premature campaign before President Uhuru Kenyatta completes his second and final term in office.
Sonko noted that there will be peace in the nation if Raila and Ruto change their tunes.
Raila and Ruto have been firing salvos at each other since the handshake.
Odinga has faulted the second in command for the loss of billions in various government projects.
He claims Ruto is behind the dam and other scandals that have rocked this nation in the recent past.
