A section of angry University of Nairobi students on Friday burst into revolutionary songs as they took the body of slain politician Samuel Ragira for burial from Chiromo mortuary.
Nicknamed OCS Ragira, the former Kilimani ward MCA aspirant was shot dead a fortnight ago at Club 36 market within CBD and police are yet to arrest his killers.
Outside Chiromo, the irate students carried out 'rituals' synonymous with many who have died while in or after finishing university as they chanted anti-government songs.
They hailed him for the role he played in shaping their lives both as student leader and as a liberation hero. Surprisingly, the students did not allow anyone to come closer to the body other than close family members.
His body was ferried from Nairobi to Kisii for burial scheduled on Saturday (today) in which many politicians are expected to attend. Sources say deputy president William Ruto could pass by on his way to Kisii Town.
When he died, police were accused of concealing evidence when they tried to indicate that he was a victim of mob justice despite being shot dead by unknown people.
On his Facebook page, Ragira had condemned outlawed Mungiki sevt of allegedly harassing traders at Club 36 and his stand had thrilled traders who viewed him as their hero.
