Nearly one year after their bitter fallout in the run to the August 8, 2017 election, Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has opened up on his relationship with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The former journalist-cum politician decamped from ODM just days after controversially losing in the nominations to Said Abdalla, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's relative, in a bid to save his infant political career which was under threat.
And even after walking different political directions, the youthful MP says that he still enjoys a good relationship with Raila, the man who is widely seen as his mentor.
“I met him the other day over the World Cup period at Serena and he hugged me like his son. I felt comforted. He joked that he’d heard that I left but I explained that I was working for the people. He said that is leadership and invited me for lunch at his home,” he says of Raila as quoted by the Standard.
Since defying all odds to win the Nyali seat, the former KTN Journalist has gravitated to the Deputy President William Ruto political axis, his erstwhile political nemesis.
The lawmaker has in the recent few days been accused of being the DP's new "spanner-boy, the claims he denies.
