Speaking on Citizen Television's Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) show, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior advised Dr Aukot to develop a thick skin.

The advice came hot on the heels of an angry demand from Aukot on Twitter, for an opportunity to rebut the criticisms that his initiative had been subjected to.

Dr Aukot accused Senators; Mutula Junior and Johnson Sakaja of lying to the Kenyan public about Punguza Mizigo.

"If #JKLIive and @KoinangeJeff is honest about his show, he should give @Thirdwayalliance the right of rebuttal. Failure to give us the opportunity to rebut lies being told by both Senators Sakaja and Mutula about #PunguzaMizigoBill2019 is just but bias. We challenge," Aukot tweeted.

"But advice Dr Ekuru Aukot that we don't want feelings in this business. He is catching feelings for nothing... I'm advising him to go borrow some thick skin," the Makueni legislator said

Sakaja was more brutal: " He should leave feelings with the dentist (Feelings wachia dentist)." (40:04-40:06)

Aukot has been moving around the country in a bid to build support for his bill that county assemblies are deliberating on.

Critics contend that if passed, the initiative will significantly roll back the gains made under devolution.

Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has urged Kenyans to ignore Punguza Mizigo and wait for the completion of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

Aukot's bill seeks to significantly reduce constituencies, abolish the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and channel resources to the wards.
