Nominated Senator Falhada Dekow Iman has encouraged her Senate colleague Kipchumba Murkomen, not to be afraid after the latter claimed he has been threatened over Saturday's Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), meeting in Mombasa.
Murkomen, who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, claimed he has been forewarned by unnamed people, that if he will be present at the rally he will be mistreated.
In a tweet on Friday morning, the Senate Majority Leader vowed to attend the function, insisting he was ready to face any eventuality.
"I have been threatened that if I attend the Mombasa BBI meeting I shall be humiliated by being denied a seat, not being allowed to talk, or even if I am allowed to talk I shall be heckled. If that’s what it takes to unite this country so be it and I am ready to absorb. Tukutane Mombasa," Murkomen posted.
Reacting to the remarks, Iman encouraged the Elgeyo Marakwet lawmaker telling him everything will be well.
"You are unstoppable Murkomen. Wananchi will be watching and God above everything!" the nominated Senator tweeted.
Former Taita Taveta Woman Representative Joyce Lay, waded into the conversation, and made fun of Murkomen, telling him to stand or sit with the crowd if he will not be allowed to sit on the VIP dias.
"You can stand or sit with mwanainchi on the grass. It’s fun; just carry an umbrella ndio usichomeke na jua sana (to prevent from hot sun)," Lay told the Senate Majority Leader.
