Deputy President William Ruto on Friday night met musicians from Kikuyu community in a dinner event at a city hotel.
Under their sacco, Talented Musicians and Composers of Savings & Credit Cooperative Society Limited (TAMCO), the musicians hosted the DP for a dinner dance that entrance fee was Sh10,000 per person.
"Support for the creative economy means a push to promote arts, music and dance. Let's band together to further action, moves that inspire creativity and innovation to fight backward practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and child marriage," the DP tweeted.
Mukami said politicians from the region and beyond will continue supporting the artists to ensure they prosper in their lives.
"Supporting talent, encouraging our musicians to invest their earnings for their future. We love them! During a dinner event with the Talented Musicians and Composers of Savings & Credit Cooperative Society Limited (TAMCO)," the Women Rep said.
Musicians who attended the dinner dance at Nairobi's Laico Regency Hotel included; Kamande Wa Kioi, Peter Kigia, Wamuthoni, Betty Bayo, Jane Muthoni, Joyce Wa Mamaa, Kaka Man Nduati, Muthee Kihenjo and tens of others.
Among the artists from Kikuyu community who have recorded songs in support of Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid are; Muigai Wa Njoroge, John Demathew, Kamande Kioi and Maspring.
However, in 2018, controversial musician Kimani Wa Turacco produced a song in which he said the Kikuyus owes the DP no debt come 2022 for previously backing President Uhuru Kenyatta who hails from the region.
