Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has asked Ukambani residents to take the census drive seriously.
He appealed to Ukambani natives living in other parts of the country to go back home for the drive.
This is in a bid to boost the region's population so that the actual number of people can be captured in the exercise.
Speaking in Muvuti, Machakos County, Muthama on Friday said that the number of people will determine the allocation of funds to counties by the national government.
"We all know funds allocation will be done according to population, big numbers translate to more money and vice versa. Do not be left out during the census. If you are in another region working or living; travel home during the census and be counted. After that you can go back," he appealed.
On matters politics, he disclosed that he has not yet decided the seat he will vie for in 2022.
He noted that some people have been pestering him to come clean on his 2022 political ambitions.
He said he is closely following national politics with the aim of uniting the Kamba community and also to ensure Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka becomes the president in 2022.
Muthama had attended a funeral in the area accompanied by Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, former Machakos Deputy Governor Benard Kiala among others.
