10 girls have been rescued from the rental houses in Mwingi, Kitui County, by the cops where they were supposedly defiled by a local cleric.
The police are hunting down the cleric who has reportedly defiled above 20 girls that resulted in some getting pregnant.
This issue was uncovered when a parent of one girl who managed to score 304 marks in her KCPE stalked the pastor's place in search of her daughter. The scene attracted the villagers who alleged that the cleric lures girls for prayers against demonic attacks and later holds them captive. The cleric eluded the crowd but his wife was busted and handed over to the corps.
A villager asserted that his niece was among those defiled and impregnated by the local cleric. The matter was reported to Mwingi Police Station.
Peter Mutuma, Mwingi Central OCPD, said that 10 teenage girls had been freed and were being interrogated before reuniting them with their families.
“We are hunting him down so that he can face the law. I also want to appeal to the parents to be vigilant and watch out the kind of people their children interact with, especially during this long holiday,” the OCPD said as quoted by The Standard.
