Langata member of parliament Nixon Korir has urged members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to concede defeat if the party's candidate Imran Okoth loses his parliamentary bid.
In an exclusive interview on the Standard Media Group-owned Kenya Television Network (KTN) on Wednesday, Mr Korir said that the ODM party had a habit of not conceding defeat in the event of losing elections.
He said that the governing Jubilee party would be gracious in defeat should its candidate former Harambee Stars forward McDonald Mariga fail to win the by-election.
"We are going to concede if we lose the Kibra election. I hope ODM also does the same because they never accept defeat, " the Langata legislator said.
Nixon Lorie is the chief agent for the Jubilee party in Kibra.
His words came on the eve of the by-election.
Residents of the Kibra constituency will troop to polling stations to cast their ballots to determine who will be their next legislator.
The seat was declared vacant by the speaker of the National Assembly after the former member of parliament Ken Okoth succumbed to a run with cancer.
The contest has attracted major parties in the country.
Kibra is a turf of the ODM party having been represented by former prime minister Raila Odinga for over 20 years when the constituency was still part of the larger Langata constituency.
