Residents of Nyamonema village in Bonchari constituency, Kisii County are mourning the death of 2 men who were buried alive at a quarry on Monday morning.

It is alleged that the two, Mayaka and Onywere were deep in a hole when the soil covered them. 

Area local administrator, George Ongweso, said the deceased have been working hard breaking stones at the quarry and selling to residents.

“It is unfortunate that the two could not survive. They died while in their line of duty. May God rest their souls in eternal peace,” he said.

He warned other quarry workers against working in suspicious areas.
