Ruto having studied for 6 years to get a PhD is not just a reflection of hard work but persistence and patience.

The self-declared hustler from Sugoi in Turbo constituency is set to graduate with the highest degree offered by the University of Nairobi (UoN) in Plant Ecology.

His graduation is set for this Friday.

This new academic ranking will change most of the parents and students' language.

Some parents and motivational speakers will probably be using DP Ruto's example to inspire their children and audience.

Here are 3 lessons that might be drawn from Ruto's academic journey;

Working smart

It is amazing how DP Ruto managed to engage in several duties and was still able to complete his PhD. Running a number of businesses, doing his political work and as well managing his political rivals is definitely working smart.

Sons and daughters of the soil might be told this for generations.

"I Wish I had all skills DP Ruto is using in life," Moi University Education student, Pracious Jebet Tanui said.

Acceptance and moving on

Ruto failed to graduate in 2016 but this is not the case today. He must have accepted and worked, even more, harder for that dream of getting a PhD. Motivational speakers will never miss capturing this lesson.

Once in while, students defer the course due to financial constraints or get discontinued for one reason or the other. Ruto's academic journey will teach many to accept and press harder.

"I trust I will be successful like Ruto. I will soon join my colleagues," determined Dickson Langat said, having deferred his studies twice, at the Machakos University.

Education is important

Everyone one knows DP Ruto has what a man requires in life; children, wealth, a respected political position but still, he forged ahead to get the highest degree.

"DP Ruto's story motivates me to go for masters and PhD," Wilfred Kibet, a former Bachelor of Commerce student at the University of Nairobi said.

This amazing academic story of DP Ruto who is now eyeing the country's top political seat will definitely inspire many who consider him. It will inspire students not to give up, but keep trying harder no matter the challenges.
