A total of 45 people have been killed by violent criminal gangs in Western Kenya over the last eight months.
This comes after the release of four Kakamega politicians over claims of funding such groups in Matungu.
The attacks that have also left scores injured are suspected to be the doing of among others, 14 brothers and Moja Kwisha gangs.
Other groups are Msumbiji which is based in Kakamega and Vihiga counties and Janjaweed, 18 brothers and Baghdad which are based in Bungoma.
Those killed include three students and most recently, a Class One student at Bulimbo Star Academy in Kakamega namely Malik Moi.
An expectant woman is also among the victims who have lost their lives in the violence meted out by the gangs, some of which are as old as 25 years.
However, the police have insisted that the crimes are just normal violent cases, considering that none of the victims has reported being robbed during the attacks.
According to Kakamega County Commissioner Abdiruzak Jaldesa, 15 suspects have since been arrested, 2 shot dead and others lynched by irate locals over Matungu killings.
