Former journalist Kanze Dena is the new State House spokesperson and head of Presidential Service Communication Unit (PSCU).
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday confirmed that Kanze had taken over the position which had been left vacant by Manoah Espisu.
She had been holding the position in an acting capacity for the past three months.
Espisu exited the position after he was appointed by the President as Kenya's ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Kanze becomes the first female to hold the position.
She promised to diligently discharge her duties by ensuring the repositioning of the PSCU to achieve its mandate.
"I'm aware of the demands that come with the job and confirm my preparedness to fit into the shoes of my predecessor. I trust that everything will fall into place with God and the cooperation of my team, not forgetting the support of my superiors," Kanze said.
Many people congratulated her for the new appointment.
Her elevation is in line with recent women appointments to key positions by President Kenyatta.
Another woman appointed to a powerful position by the President is Lt.Col. Rachel Nduta of the Kenya Airforce to the Woman Aide-de-camp.
She's the first woman ever to hold the position.
