In recent weeks, Kenya's Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has become a household name and that is not without reason.
The former spy who hails from Garissa County and whose father is the county's senator has done what many people have long not had the guts to do: Order the arrests of the powerful and mighty.
Thanks to his tenure, the war on corruption has gained new impetus and there is renewed hope that given his resolve and uncompromising stance, significant progress in that war will be made.
Given his new-found stature, there is murmured talk of the prospect of a Noordin Haji president.
Scores contend that he has what it takes to lead the entire country.
Should Kenyans agree to elect him, it would be a historic and precedent-setting development, he would become Kenya's first Muslim to ascend to the presidency.
But given the stereotypes and fears that a significant number of Kenyans habour against Muslims, his election would be a tall order.
But even so, Noordin Haji's work ethic and cool demeanour have helped placate some of those fears, making him perhaps the best-placed Muslim to contest for high office.
