"I condemn in the strongest terms possible the illegal demolition of property and inhuman eviction of over 200 families at Mwendo wa Panya village in Mtepeni ward, Kilifi South Constituency," he said.

The governor said he is particularly opposed to the contempt of Court orders after the Court bailiff ignored an order restraining the eviction of 'wananchi' at the village and carried out the 'illegal' demolition of over 400 households.

"Those who masterminded this heinous eviction should and will be held accountable for this atrocity," Kingi said on Friday after visiting the affected residents.

He indicated the Mwendo wa Panya land case is in court awaiting judgement on December 6, 2018.

"The illegal eviction witnessed today, under the watch of armed security personnel, is a reflection of how the police force is being compromised to satisfy the needs of a few greedy individuals.

"He affirmed that his administration will do a follow up of the matter and urged the Kilifi County Police Commander to ensure law and order is prevailed and that no individual is above the law.

"As a government, we have taken quick measures to provide shelter, food and water to the affected families as we look to ensure normalcy resumes in Mwendo wa Panya village."

The County boss further urged the people of Mtepeni Ward to maintain peace and order "as we approach this issue within the legal framework and ensure justice prevails."
