Kisumu Central Member of Parliament (MP) Fred Ouda has slammed critics questioning opposition leader Raila Odinga's plan to accompany President Uhuru Kenyatta to Beijing, China this week to secure Sh368 billion funding for the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
Speaking on K24 TV's State of the Nation show on Sunday night, Ouda said there is nothing wrong with Raila going to China with President Kenyatta.
He stated that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader is offering support to President Kenyatta as he works to actualise the development agenda he promised Kenyans.
"Critics and enemies of development should live 'Baba' (Raila) alone because what he is doing is in good faith and in the interest of Kenyans," Ouda said during the interview.
The Kisumu Central MP revealed that Raila will help President Kenyatta leave a commendable legacy when his term ends in 2022.
He added that the handshake between Raila and Uhuru has unified Kenyans and leaders across the divide must support the pact.
Raila's revelation that he will be accompanying President Kenyatta to China to secure the SGR loan has received backlash from a section of Kenyans, especially on social media.
A section of Raila's political critics has also questioned the planned trip to China.
On Saturday, the ODM leader said that he and President Kenyatta will be visiting China this week to secure Sh368 billion funding for the SGR project from Naivasha to Kisumu.
