Moi University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Kosgey on Tuesday issued a statement in relation to the brutal murder of a sixth-year female medical student identified as Ivy Wangeci at the university’s school of medicine.
In his statement, Kosgey noted that insecurity has been a major problem not only for the university but also for the entire country as a whole.
“It’s indeed a very sad day. We will be updating all of us on time. We’ve been having issues of insecurity issues not only here but all over the county. We’ve already notified her family over this unfortunate incident,” stated Prof Kosgey.
The vice chancellor also advised the student to remain calm as the university followed up on the matter.
Reacting to the matter, the Dean at Moi University school of medicine Lukoye Atwoli emphasized that the incident was a reflection of the insecurity in Eldoret.
“This is not the first case of such an incident occurring and we are counting on the police to get to the bottom of this and give us the full information. An attack of the student that happened on an open road really reflects on the general state of the security in town,” Dr Lukoye noted
The incident has attracted the attention of the whole country with most citizens condemning the horrific murder on social media.
