South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has been subjected to immense criticism on social media for the second day in a row following allegations that he hired goons to manhandle his opponents.
One of the three victims (name withheld), said the MP authorised his supporters to strip them naked and beat them on Wednesday at Nyamarambe area.
"He asked us to get into his vehicle after bargaining for our release. They stripped us naked and beat us badly on the way," he told reporters.
The three had been arrested on pretext that they booed the MP at an event in Nyabigege at the eve of the New Year on Tuesday, forcing the MP to call the police to arrest them.
But a section of residents now accuse the MP of arrogance, with some calling for his immediate resignation to avoid humiliation.
"He should just resign and that is the only option. Stripping opponents naked was a bad idea in a democratic country like Kenya," said Justine Abere.
George Motari added: "Osoro is spoiling reputation of young leaders. He's too arrogant to be trusted with power and I bet, he will never see parliament again."
The MP defended his name on Saturday insisting that he's not aware of the attack, adding that his opponents had misled the three to lie for sympathy.
According to him, he heeded to the advice of the elders to forgive the three despite throwing stones at him during a football match.
