Police officers in Kisii County have warned residents against the selling, smoking, and distribution of bhang.
According to Kisii Central police OCS Eliud Kimwele, the government has not legalised the selling, smoking, and distribution of bhang.
"The government has not allowed members of the public to smoke, sell or distribute bhang. Anyone who will be caught engaging in the illegal trade will carry his own cross," he said.
Kimwele urged residents to venture into legal businesses which will not land them in court.
He assured that police officers will inspect vehicles at roadblocks to ensure no one is ferrying bhang to various parts of the county.
"Drivers are advised to stop at roadblocks for inspection. Any driver caught will be arrested also. We must know what is being ferried in vehicles to nab those ferrying bhang and illicit brew," he added.
Kimwele said police officers who will be caught colluding with cartels will be sacked, arrested and be taken to court for prosecution.
He was speaking at his office on Monday morning.
