He said that the family decided to have him airlifted to India for specialised treatment last week.
“He (Mukhtar) is still in a coma and doctors are hopeful that he will recover,” Adan said.
Adan said that doctors are battling to remove a bullet that is lodged in his son’s head.
“It is a difficult moment for us as the family and we ask for Kenyans to pray for him (Mukhtar)," an emotional Adan said.
Mukhtar survived an attempted assassination on August 19 in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area.
He is said to have been shot three times on the head by assassins.
A key suspect, David Mwai, who allegedly confessed to have been sent to eliminate him died in police cells at parklands police station last month.
Investigations into Mukhtar's attempted murder are still ongoing with the family complaining that there is a plot to derail the case.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti have denied claims of a plot to cover-up the case.
