The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader addressed his supporters at Kisumu’s Posta Grounds, ahead of his expected role as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s chief host in Nyanza.

The address, however, came after a veiled arrival and meetings with area leaders on Thursday, as both the media and the public were left in the dark over his arrival at the Kisumu International Airport.

In fact, only a few leaders including area Deputy Governor Mathews Owilli and County Assembly Majority Leader Ken Onyango arrived to receive him.

Raila also held talks with ODM party members and leaders at the County Party Headquaters.

‘’Addressing residents at Kisumu’s Posta Grounds after visiting the @TheODMparty County Headquarters,’’ he tweeted.

The last time Raila was seen addressing the pubic was on October 20, during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County.

Then, the Luo Nyanza kingpin had not assumed his roles and was just a nominee.

Uhuru is expected to land in Kisumu on Thursday, December 13, and proceed for the official launch of the Universal Healthcare Coverage, in a visit that could see him tour other regions of the province too.

The tour becomes his first in the region after his March 9 truce with Raila, his former chief political nemesis.
