Controversial opposition strategist Dr. David Ndii now claims he is 'Luo and not Kikuyu'.
Ndii who was among technocrats who helped design campaign strategies for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga ahead of the August 8th, 2017 general election on Friday said although he was born a member of the Kikuyu community, his political inclination makes him more Luo than the natives of Central Kenya.
Ndii is an economist who identifies more with Raila who is inclined to socialism that leaders from Jubilee. Raila studied in Germany, one European country that subscribes to socialism.
"I am a political Luo and a cultural Kikuyu," Dr Ndii said on Friday in a tweet.
"I renounced citizenship of Gikuyu nation a.k.a Uthamaki, not culture. If you can have Kenyan Somali and Somali Somali, then we can also have Kavirondo Kikuyu and Uthamaki Kikuyu."
Ndii is remembered by many for his phrase ahead of the last general polls when he said "Kenya is a cruel marriage, it's time we talk divorce," criticizing leaders, especially from Jubilee who he believes were holding other Kenyans hostage.
He also proposed that some parts of Kenya which are convinced that they are marginalized should break away and form their own country.
