Speaking on Radio Maisha on Monday, the youthful leader noted that he disliked a number of alleged bad traits within the party, citing alleged dictatorship.

He said that ODM does not respect democracy, especially at the nomination stage.

This, he said, was the reason that fueled his decision to decamp to the Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) party on whose ticket he has unsuccessfully challenged the Orange party twice.

‘’Hapakuwa na demokrasia maana hata tikiti zinapeanwa kwa mapendeleo. Mimi nilitoka maana hakuna uhuru (I exited the party because of its dictatorship and unfair nominations),’’ he said.

He added that he had joined the party due to his belief for Raila’s ideologies, but would later be disappointed with its operations.

Oketch further stressed the need for political parties to give leadership chances to the youthful generation and shelve the culture opting for older candidates.

‘’Vyama viwape vijana nafasi ya uongozi (political parties should consider the youth for leadership slots),’’ added Oketch.

Oketch who initially lost to Ben Okello again lost to former Cabinet Minister Ochillo Ayacko in the by-election, both of whom were fronted by the Orange party.
