President Uhuru Kenyatta is too young to retire from active politics in 2022.
The statement former Jubilee vice-chairman David Murathe made when he met Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in Yatta, Machakos County on Tuesday cannot be ignored by anyone.
Murathe said Uhuru could be a presidential running mate when that time comes.
Politics is full of surprises, there are speculations that Uhuru is likely to endorse Kalonzo for the presidential seat in the next general elections.
During his father’s burial, Kalonzo said he was ready to be Uhuru’s errand boy, a remark that never augured well with a section of leaders from Ukambani including Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana.
The frosty relationship between Kalonzo and Uhuru has been mended since the handshake.
The revelation by ODM Deputy Leader Ali Hassan Joho that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is out to ensure Ruto doesn’t become the next President also leaves Kalonzo with a smile.
If Kalonzo receives the endorsement from Uhuru and Raila before the presidential race, he will be guaranteed power.
The votes from Ukambani, Luo Nyanza and Mt. Kenya regions are enough to make Kalonzo the next Kenyan president.
He will with no doubt give Ruto a run for his money if he gets this support.
