Business mogul Don Bosco Gichana has reiterated that the proposed referendum won't be held this year.
Mr Gichana, a close ally of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, said that the decision by IEBC not to allocate money for referendum makes it difficult to have it held in 2019.
"I can comfortably and reliably say if there will be a referendum then it will be after July 2020.
"For the 2019-2020 budget IEBC has not been provided for the said funds. So in no way can the referendum be held prior to that," Gichana wrote on his Facebook page on Monday.
In 2007 presidential elections, Mr Gichana donated a 'Hammer' to the former Prime Minister, who was vying for presidency.
The vocal politician has been at the front line pushing for Raila's support in Nyamira and Kisii counties given his political influence among the youths in the Gusii region.
Mr Odinga after the historic handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta last year, he started pushing for a referendum in a move aimed at increasing political temperatures in this country.
