Residents in Naivasha can now breathe easily after the water company has started repair works on damaged pipes that left residents without water for two months.
Naivasha Water, Sewerage and Sanitation Company had blamed a Naivasha contractor for the lack of water in Naivasha town and nearby estates.
The water company Chief Executive Officer Nahashon Wahome said the contractor has however agreed to pay for the repair of damaged pipes.
Wahome said the contractor working on rehabilitation of some roads in the area had damaged water pipes which forced the water company to move to court seeking orders to compel the contractor to repair the water pipes.
Wahome said the water company and the contractor reached an out of court agreement after the contractor promised to pay for the repair of the pipes.
The chief executive said the contractor has already paid the first instalment and repair works on the pipes has started.
“We have decided to resolve the matter outside the court. We, however, will be updating the court on the progress we are making in ensuring the pipes are fully repaired and residents are getting water,” said Wahome.
Most of the affected residents are from Site, Kabati and County Council estates were buying water from vendors expensively.
