The Chief of the Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe has hailed that Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) for their commitment to fighting the Al Shabab terror militia in Somalia. Mwathethe visited that the KDF officers in Somalia where he interacted with them.
In a press statement released to the media, Mwathethe said that the officers have worked diligently to ensure that the fight against the militia is won. Mwathethe visited Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kuday of Badhadhe District, Lower Juba.
The General said that the fight has yielded peace across the borders, adding that the war is almost over. Mwathethe also reminded the officers that President Uhuru Kenyatta is behind the officers as they engage the militia at the war front.
“I have come here today to bring Christmas and New Year greetings, first from our Commander-In-Chief, His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta and also from KDF fraternity at home. They are proud of you and of the successes you have achieved during your tour of duty,” he said.
On the claims that the government has forgotten about the officers working in Somalia, Mwathethe said that they are untrue, adding that President Kenyatta’s leadership has good plans for the soldiers.
He termed the KDF as heroes and heroines who deserve to be respected for the good work they have been doing in the recent past.
