President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto will get a 3.9 pay rise, according to a Treasury budget.
The changes will see Uhuru and Ruto get a basic salary of Sh38 million, up from the 36.6 they are currently earning, annually.
Uhuru will take home his initial 1.6 million monthly salary, the same he used to receive before taking a cut in 2017.
The president is currently earning Sh1.44 million.
Ruto will on the other hand receive Sh1.4 million, up from the Sh1.23 million he is currently earning, according to Treasury plans seen by the Nation.
The two executives also enjoy a combined allowance of Sh15.2 million yearly and and a combined pay of Sh22.8 million, totaling to Sh38 million beginning July.
This comes at a time when lawmakers are on the hot seat following their approval of an extra Sh250, 000 house allowance fund.
The issue has been a hot debate topic lately, with a most MPs supporting the plan that eilk obviously heap more burden on the taxpayer's shoulders.
Its supporters include Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli who is arguing that the MPs need more money to impress the electorate.
