A day after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) revealed its plan to retain the Ugenya Parliamentary in the forthcoming by-election slated for 5th April, cyber-activist Robert Alai has now made unexpected claims.
According to Alai, Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s allies have developed the habit of branding their rivals Deputy President William Ruto’s men.
Alai, who has been very vocal on matters of national interest, said that Raila’s allies link anyone who opposes them to Ruto in order to weaken him or her.
“Nowadays if they want to destroy your chances of winning a political seat in Luo Nyanza, they just have to brand you Ruto man. Even people who have never met Ruto are called Ruto men. Kenyan politics is still about figures of hate,” he wrote on Twitter.
The statement comes after ODM promised to mount a mother of all campaigns to ensure its candidate Chris Karan reclaims his seat following the nullification of his win by the Supreme Court last year, citing illegalities and irregularities.
Led by Senator James Orengo, the leaders have affirmed to pitch tents across the constituency to ensure that Karan carries the day.
During the Migori senator by-election, youthful politician and businessman Eddy Oketch was also branded Ruto’s man even after he denied claims that the second in command was funding his campaigns.
