Even after her criminal proceedings were halted by High Court, a section of lawyers believe DCJ Philomena Mwilu has not been accorded support by her boss David Maraga.
On Wednesday, Maraga failed to issue a statement with regard to criminal charges against Mwilu, the second most powerful person in the judiciary ranks.
"I don't want to comment. It's a matter that is in court and we have to respect that," he said.
Among charges facing Mwilu are evasion of taxes, fraud and abuse of office.
But those in the legal field believes that Maraga could have failed to protect his deputy.
"He should have convened a meeting and issue statement over the attack by the executive," said Wilkins Ochoki, a Kisii based lawyer.
Veteran lawyer Osoro Mogikoyo did not have kind words either for Maraga, who he accuses of laxity.
"When DPP wanted to charge Registrar Ann Amadi, he came out strongly against it. I wonder what makes Mwilu different."
On Tuesday, Maraga is however said to have stormed out of JSC meeting after disagreeing with DPP Noordin Haji over the arrest.
Mr. Haji said he had informed the CJ about the decision to charge Mrs. Mwilu, who has since linked her troubles with strained relationship with executive.
