Police officers in Kenyenya, Kisii County have said that a major breakthrough has been made into the abduction and killing of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) student in September this year.
Area police boss Isaac Thuranira said police have been closely monitoring a number of suspects who were suspected to be behind the brutal murder of the student, Elvinah Moracha who was a student at Sengera SDA secondary school.
The deceased was lured from her home in Mariba area while she was revising for her KCSE exams. She was killed and her body found dumped in a fish bond a few meters away from her parents' home.
Thuranira assured that the statements taken from the suspects will not be taken lightly.
The police boss dismissed claims that police officers were sluggish in the probe with an intention to cover up the murder.
"The public should ignore claims that police officers are planning to cover up the suspects in the murder. Detectives are doing everything possible to ensure justice is served to the deceased family," he said.
He challenged the deceased family to be more patient as detectives winds up investigations.
