Kinyanjui spoke on Wednesday when he toured the area after days of tension over attacks on some members of the community.

“More than 100 security personnel, including GSU have been deployed to the area to maintain peace and order in Mau Narok, Kahuho, Muthera , Gachembe and Tipi,” Kinyanjui said.

The county boss said criminals should stop hiding in the name of the community and be dealt with according to the law.

“Criminal elements hiding in ethnic cloth, often engage in act of animal theft, rape, extortion, and crop theft. Instead of the individual facing the law as individuals, they drag their ethnic community along. This is retrogressive and counterproductive. Criminals must be dealt with as criminals. The security agents must act with speed and bring the situation under control,” he said.

The governor promised to donate land in the area for the construction of a police post.

“We have requested the Inspector General of Police to consider the setting up of a permanent fully fledged GSU and anti-stock theft units. This will deter the frequent incidents that have become the norm. It will also restore the region and allow normal economic activities to continue uninterrupted,” the county boss said.
