Gor wuod Ogallo (Gor son of Ogallo) was a paramount chief who ruled with an iron fist in Kanyamwa, Homa Bay county, he also was a medicine man.

According to one of his granddaughters Turfosa Nyangaya Okeche who turns 100 today, her grandfather also had supernatural powers and at times did unbelievable things.

"Gor was a man of surprises. At times he could enter a house without being noticed. People would only hear him calling somebody from a different room,” she told the Standard.

She says that the legend also had a way of punishing members of different clans, and would dry their water pans as he passed by, just so that they can notice his presence.

She says that he would miraculously dry the pans for four hours, and in most occasions, would have to be begged to miraculously bring back the water.

“My mother used to be sent by villagers to go and plead with her father to restore water in their pans. She used get annoyed with Gor who simply laughed and restored the water immediately she approached him,” she added.

At times, she said, he would turn himself into a stranger or leave the house with both the doors and windows open.

Gor ruled in today's Kanyamwa Kologi and Kosewe wards in Ndhiwa constituency and had his home in Sigama village, Upper Kayambo location.
