An Administration Police officer from Nyamira who apprehended two conmen on Wednesday in Westlands, Nairobi has been lauded by Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet.
Mr. Boinnet said he was impressed by the AP officer Joash Ombati for his braveness.
"Ombati's confidence to apprehend the conmen alone is a clear indication that there are many professional officers who should be trusted in the police force," Boinnet sai as reported by Capital FM.
He added; "Ombati did a commendable job and I have extended the same message to him".
The officer was guarding a bank in Nairobi's Westlands area when he spotted a man kicked out of a speeding vehicle.
Ombati hired a taxi and chased the vehicle, apprehended the conmen and recovered Sh400,000 the victim, Amos Charo was conned.
According to police reports, Charo had traveled from Voi to Nairobi to buy construction materials at a cheap price after the conmen lured him.
The conmen who are being held by police had chatted with Charo on OLX, a platform where people purchases commodities online.
Mr. Ombati, a father of two daughters, hails from Nyambaria location in Nyamira County.
