Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications (ODM) Philip Etale has condemned the ongoing row between citizens and the government in Tharaka Nithi county.

This follows the lynching of Kiamaindi chief Japheth Mayau on Tuesday evening, whuch was followed by the murder of Chuka OCS Joseph Kinyua a day later, in Embu east sub county.

In a tweet Thursday, Etale faulted the residents for lynching the two, terming it a pathetic and barbaric act that should not have happened.

He is now calling for stern legal measures against those found culpable of engaging in the murder.

"The Igamba-Ng'ombe incident in Chuka where residents lynched a Chief, a Police boss (OCS) and police officer is unacceptable, pathetic, archaic and barbaric. The culprits, if found should not see the sun," he tweeted.

This comes at a time when General Service Unit (GSU) officers have been deployed to the region to flush out the suspected criminals, while a good number of villagers have reportedly fled their homes to neighbouring regions in fear.

The chief was reportedly killed after his brother allegedly killed a villager and allegedly dumped his body near Thuci river in December. The body of the deceased was found tbree weeks ago.

The OCS was in the other hand axed to death while attempting to arrest one suspect, David Ikaaba). who runs a butchery in Embu county, the police shot Ikaaba, killing him.
