Kisumu County First Lady Mama Dorothy Nyong’o, who is also mother to Oscar Award winner, and celebrated actor Lupita Nyong'o has been crowned the Adolescent Girls and Young Women Champion.
The function was held in Kisumu's The Vic Hotel and witnessed by among others, her Makueni counterpart and County First Ladies Association Chairperson Nazi Kivutha on Tuesday.
The honor was given during the Dreams Innovation Challenge Partners County Forum.
The forum seeks to share various dreams and innovation channels aimed at combating the rising cases of HIV/AIDS infections, especially among the young group.
Accepting the challenge, Mrs Nyong'o challenged different organizations allied to the DREAMS initiative to among others create awareness that will help further combat the same.
She said that she is committed to helping make the county which has been topping the list of the counties with the biggest number of new infections lately.
"The idea of Kisumu featuring top in the list of HIV/AIDS prevalent area will soon be a thing of the past," she is quoted by Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong'o's online communication chief Lenox Omondi.
