US based activist Ombori Monari, who also chairs Abagusii community in the diaspora, now says Deputy President William Ruto risks being broke of he continues to work with a section of Mt Kenya politicians.
In recent weeks, Dr Ruto has banked on Ndindi Nyoro, Ferdinand Waititu, Kimani Ichungwah, Susan Kihika, Catherine Waiguru among others to make his way to populous Mt Kenya region.
But Mr Monari, a close ally of Raila Odinga, now says Dr Ruto should consider investing and dumping Mt Kenya politicians to avoid a situation where he would be declared bankrupt like former presidential candidate Cyrus Jirongo.
"I want to teach Dr Ruto and his supporters politics. Ruto is only popular among Kalenjins. Such support is not worthwhile. It's like saying, all Luhyas back Mudavadi or all Kisiis back Matiang'i," he claimed.
"I am married from Mt Kenya and I know those people. You have seen Moses Kuria decamp after Ruto even saying that the helicopter he uses belongs to Kuria. These people cannot vote for an outsider," he added.
According to him, Mt Kenya politicians are spying on Ruto and often meet to discuss the unfolding of events. He adds that Dr Ruto should dissociate from them for his own good.
"If he doesn't want to be broke like Jirongo, let Ruto dump them. They will disappoint him. They are just spying on him. I want to assure him that these people cannot disobey Uhuru Kenyatta at all."
Despite promising to back DP Ruto in the past, President Uhuru Kenyatta has lately snubbed succession debate, often insisting that he's focused on service delivery.
