The second term governor on Tuesday announced the firing of health workers at Kyeleni and Thinu health centres.

Mutua faulted the health workers for not reporting to work after a patient reportedly died due negligence.

He said the manner in which the health workers handled the matter was unacceptable.

“The health workers who were rostered to be on duty at the 24-hour Kyeleni health centre when a man, helpless due to lack of support, helped his wife deliver lying on the grass at the facility, behaved in a manner that is incomprehensible and unacceptable by absconding duty,” Mutua said.

Mutua also announced jobs' termination for workers who will fail to adhere to the code of conduct.

He said he will not relent in the fight to improve locals' living standards.

“Their employment with the government of Machakos is hereby terminated for gross misconduct. Their supervisors have also been sent on suspension pending disciplinary hearings. The same fate to apply to workers at Thinu Health Centre where health workers have been the absconding duty and leaving Wananchi to suffer,” he tweeted on Wednesday.
