Speaking in Bureti, Kericho county on Sunday, the vocal parliamentarian moved to quell fears within Ruto's camp that Uhuru could retreat and dishonour his initial vow.

He said that Uhuru is yet to renege in his 2013 and 2017 vow to endorse and take part in campaigning for Ruto as his successor, proof that the deal still stands.

"There is not even a single instance that President Kenyatta has reneged in the promise to support Ruto in 2022.

"The covenant which led to the merger of The National Alliance party and United Republican Party will hold forever," he was quoted by the Standard.

The MP who has repeatedly vowed to stick with the DP no matter the situation was speaking when he accompanied Ruto for area Woman Representative Florence Bore's thanksgiving function.

Others present leaders who endorsed Ruto's bid included Belgut parliamentarian Nelson Koech who said that the DP deserves the seat judging by the Jubilee government performance.

"We are happy over the progress of Jubilee’s Big Four agenda and we’d like to declare, from Kericho, that the only person we back for the 2022 presidential race is you,” he said.
