Olunga scored both goals in the first half. He scored the first in the 17th minute through his trademark left foot after rounding off the opponent’s goalkeeper before scoring the second in the 40th minute via a powerful header.

Taiyo Koga had put Kashiwa ahead in the 9th minute.

Olunga has now scored three goals in this campaign as his side continues to fight for a promotion slot back into the Japanese topflight league (J-League), one season after being relegated.

Kashiwa Reysol is now 3rd on the J-League 2 standings with 15 points after seven matches. The team has won five and lost two.

Top two sides Kofu and Mito also have 15 points each, but with a superior goal difference compared to Olunga’s Kashiwa.

The 25-year-old striker is picking up the strides after recently suffering an injury that kept him out of Harambee Stars vs Ghana Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Ghana last month.

Stars lost the match by a solitary goal, but both teams qualified for the tournament that is set for June in Egypt.
