The former presidential aspirant and his team have been pushing for a number of changes, in what they believe will spare Kenyans unnecessary burden in terms of tax.

The party is seeking a reduction in the number of elected leaders under the 'Punguza Mizigo' initiative, which it argues will scrap off double representation and duplication of roles.

In a tweet on Monday, Aukot who has since forwarded over one million signatures collected from Kenyans to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to kick start the bid, said that his push is well on course.

He encouraged Kenyans to come on board and air their views on the bid.

"Good morning, referendum talk is gaining momentum. I will encourage that we discuss specifics and their benefit to Kenyans. At @Thirdwaykenya, we welcome your views on our #PunguzaMizigoBill2019 already before the IEBC," he tweeted.

Aukot's team has proposed among others, the reduction of parliamentary positions and the election of two representatives, male and female, per constituency.
