Despite claims that Migori Governor Okoth Obado is given preferential treatment at Industrial Area prison, Prison boss Isaiah Osugo has dismissed the report.
A section of local media hinted that unlike other remandees, Mr. Obado was allowed to put on his suits, see guests at any time besides sleeping comfortably on a mattress.
"Obado was issued with prison requirements including uniforms for Capital Offenders as required by the Prison Rules and Regulations," added Mr Osugo.
He emphasised that Obado only puts on home clothes when making court appearances like other suspects.
He added: "During production to court, Hon. Obado like other awaiting inmates is allowed to put on his home clothes and when back to custody put on prison uniforms as is the procedure for inmates awaiting trial."
Also, Osugo insisted that the county boss is remanded in a cell meant for capital offenders contrary to media claims.
"We wish to state categorically that Hon. Obado has not been given any preferential treatment in terms of accommodation, clothing, feeding and visits which are all regulated in accordance to Prisons and Regulations," said Mr. Osugo.
The Migori county boss will know how bail application fate on October 8th. Detectives have linked him to cruel murder of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno.
