Kinyua had been accused of corruption involving KenyaRe's assets.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODDP), the former director was jailed for fraudulent acquisition of a KenyaRe land in Karen.

The court also revoked the ownership of the property which had already been sold to another company.

“SPM Kombo ordered that the Sh12M worth house be reverted back to KenyaRe & cancel ownership by Rockhound Properties Ltd,” ODDP wrote on Twitter.

Kinyua’s co-accused Mary Njeri Ng’ang’a Kimingi, on the other hand, was given a non-custodial sentence after the court factored in the fact that she was a single mother of three children.

Kimingi was also fined an additional Sh500,000 for acquiring Sh132,504, failure to which she would be imprisoned for a total of 18 months for the two accounts.

“SPM Felix Kombo admitted Kinyua's co-accused Mary Kimingi to non-custodial sentence & pay Sh1M fine or in default 12 months imprisonment,” ODDP’s tweet reads.

Kinyua was already serving a 3-year jail term for conning taxpayers.
