Deputy President William Ruto has been urged to take ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s referendum calls seriously.
According to Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong’i, the constitutional amendments being called on by the former Prime Minister are targeting DP Ruto’s presidential ambition in 2022.
“Ruto should not take Raila’s referendum calls lightly. The matter is weightier and I am urging DP Ruto not to ignore Raila,” he said.
The Jubilee MP argued that DP Ruto must be at the forefront opposing Raila to ensure no amendments to the constitution are done.
“Raila is only interested in frustrating DP Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022. It is high time that DP Ruto must traverse this country to ask Kenyans to ignore Raila,” he added.
The legislator urged Raila who doubles up as the NASA leader to retire from active politics in peace.
Tong'i called on the Gusii community to ignore Raila's constitutional referendum calls.
"The Gusii community has been supporting Raila but, she has not benefited in any way. There is no need for the community to continue sticking with a loser," he stated.
He was speaking on Sunday at Birongo area.
